Farm Dinners

The producers here have discovered that the dry climate mixed with a good water flow make this an ideal area for growing grapes, apples, cherries and a wide variety of other fruits and vegetables. Fruit grown at this high elevation produce high sugar and juice content balanced with a zing from the cool nights.

Farm dinners, winemaker dinners and Slow Food events bring visitors from all over Colorado to enjoy fresh local foods prepared by the area's culinary experts. Chefs' enthusiasm about local food quality inspires their menus and many local restuarants cook with seasonally available produce and meats.

Wineries and Tasting Rooms in the West Elks AVA

Grape harvests in Delta County occur between Mid-August to Mid October with most of the harvests occurring in September. Harvest is followed immediately by the crush. Many wineries will allow you to come and observe. Don't expect to see women stomping grapes in big barrels as in the popular scene from an "I Love Lucy" episode, but you will be able to observe this unique part of the winemaking business. Call your favorite winery to see when would be a good time watch or even join in!

The tasting festival for all Colorado wines is the Colorado Mountain Winefest in September held in Grand Junction. Visit our wineries before or after!
